    Our Purpose

The purpose of our church is the worship of the true God, the teaching and preaching of the Word of God, the fellowship of the believers, the administration of the ordinances of the New Testament, the spiritual nourishment of its members, and the carrying-out of the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Matt.28:18-20; Acts 1:8

    Our History

Bethesda was originally founded on August 1,1964, under the Program of Propagation of the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches with support from eleven sister churches in the Greater Columbus area. The church was constituted, organized, recognized, and operating as a Baptist Church by January 1, 1965, and was accepted into the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches that same year.

Bethesda began under the name of Hope Baptist Church, meeting in a rented house until May 1, 1965 when the congregation, then numbering 100, moved into the new building site at 3434 Watkins Rd. in Columbus, Ohio.

Hope Baptist Church was re-named Bethesda Baptist Church along with the signing of a new charter on June 3, 1984. Bethesda still remains a member of the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches (OARBC, and a member of the GARBC national fellowship of churches.

Over the past 8 years, Bethesda's building has been renovated, and is a beautiful place for public worship.

    Our Associations

As a New Testament Church cannot "join" anything outside itself, but only affiliate itself upon the grounds of fellowship, this church is in accord with, and in fellowship with West Moriah Association of Independent Baptist Churches, Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches, and the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches of America.
